Abstract

The levels of algebraization allow us to characterize the algebraic reasoning that students develop throughout their schooling. Since the teacher is the main facilitator for the development of algebraic thinking, it is necessary that he/she enriches his/her vision of algebra based on proposals from various researches. The workshop was active-participative, beginning with the presentation and exemplification of the theoretical frame of reference that allows us to define the levels of algebraization. Then, the participants analyzed some answers given to tasks proposed in students' census evaluations, with the purpose of identifying elements that allow characterizing students' algebraic reasoning. Finally, a reflection on the importance of generating learning that strengthens the levels of algebraization reached by students and promotes the development of higher levels of algebraic reasoning was encouraged.
