The research is a review study on the influence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) in the educational field. The concept of Communicative Artificial Intelligence (ComAI) is identified in order to more precisely describe a new educational reality, in which GenAI is not only a tool but becomes an active participant in communication. Methodologically, the article is a scoping review, as it examines academic approaches to GenAI as a social actor; it also puts forward a proposal for a theoretical framework based on Communicative Constructivism (CoCo) for this new field of research: ComAI. The results of the synthesis and analyses made it possible to establish arguments in favor of introducing this new concept, and key questions are suggested for future research in this emerging field. Special attention is paid to the transformation of assessment and reflection practices, as well as to aspects concerning the value of human–GenAI interaction in the educational process. It is concluded that the active and large-scale development of Communicative Artificial Intelligence makes it necessary to identify a new and specific thematic area of research in education.
