Abstract

The present study aimed to determine the relationship between reflective critical thinking and attitude toward research among students at a pedagogical institute in Ica during the year 2024. A quantitative approach was used, with a non-experimental, correlational design, allowing for the analysis of the association between variables without direct manipulation. The sample was selected through purposive sampling and included students from various educational programs. An adapted questionnaire was applied, consisting of a Likert-type scale: 23 items to assess reflective critical thinking and 10 unidimensional items to measure attitude toward research, achieving a Cronbach’s alpha reliability coefficient of 0.78. The results showed a positive and significant relationship between reflective critical thinking and attitude toward research (R = 0.901; p = 0.01). It is concluded that the development of reflective critical thinking is a determining factor in promoting a favorable attitude toward research. Therefore, it is recommended to strengthen these competencies in initial teacher training to encourage commitment to research activity.
