Alkaline soils are those that have unfavorable properties for most crops, to improve these conditions this research was carried out with the objective to evaluate the effect of green manure of spontaneous plants on the properties of alkaline soils in Acobamba, Huancavelica, Peru, the experiment was conducted in Randomized Complete Block Design, with 4 treatments: green manure of spontaneous cut plants (AVPEC), uncut (AVPESC), cut + uncut (AVM) and soil without green manure (SSAV). Moisture, bulk density, NPK, pH, EC, and organic matter were evaluated. Green manures from spontaneous plants increase humidity and reduce the bulk density of soil; increase nitrogen availability, decrease phosphorus, in some cases increase potassium and in others decrease, do not influence pH and slightly increase soil salinity; improve biological properties by increasing the organic matter content. The use of green manure from spontaneous plants significantly influences the properties of alkaline soils during resting periods and becomes a sustainable agronomic strategy for the improvement of alkaline soils and the proper management of spontaneous plant cover.
