Effectiveness of demostrative education of andean products in the decrease of anemia in children under 36 months in a rural community of the region of Huancayo, Peru

Abstract

Objetive. To verify the effectiveness of the education-demonstration in Wanka dialect of the benefits of Andean products in the reduction of anemia in children under 36 months in the Small Town Center of Santa Cruz De Laria-Colca-Huancayo, Peru. Materials and methods. A non-randomized pre-experimental study was carried out, children under 36 months of age with a diagnosis of anemia at their different levels were considered between mild, moderate and severe; Of 7 children, 3 were considered for the study prior informed consent. The hemoglobin (Hb) and hematocrit (Hto) checklist and analysis instrument were used where children with anemia were detected and, in the mothers of the children, the demonstration of the products was prepared, their preparation and consumption of the same for 4 months and achieve sustainable habits, to improve current and future generations. Results 3 children with anemia were found making 43%, and after the treatment where products from the area were used such as yuyo, shortcut aromatic herbs, blood cake, adding coca flour in different types of cakes that were provided, and raising awareness Wuanka language for the use of them, it was achieved that 100% of the children left the anemia as it appears in the table presented and annexes are also attached; This result is after 4 months of uninterrupted treatment. Conclusions: Demonstrative education was effective in significantly increasing the level of hemoglobin concentration as a basic indicator of anemia.
