Water for human consumption is increasingly limited due to its high cost of purification. The quality of water for human consumption in the city of Huancavelica was determined by physical, chemical and microbiological parameters. The study is of an applied type, descriptive level and cross-sectional, it involved an evaluation as it was presented in reality. The physicochemical characteristics did not exceed the category 1 water quality standards, except for total solids in the supply station in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood and in all the samples it showed signs of minerals in the water, the microbiological parameters in all the water samples were found free of fecal coliforms, total coliforms 3 MPN/mL occurred in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood. The quality levels in the three untreated water sampling stations were of medium quality and in the purified water sample it was of good quality according to the water quality standards and the INSF. It is concluded, the average water quality indicates that the residents of the city of Huancavelica are exposed to a certain level of risk to contract some diseases transmitted by drinking water.
